Italian insurer Generali has estimated its net exposure to the damaged Pirelli tower in Milan at between €3m (£1.8m) and €4m (£2.5m).

A light aircraft hit the twenty-sixth floor of the 30-storey building on 18 April, killing three people, including the pilot of the plane, and injuring over 30.

Reports said Generali had confirmed that it underwrote the property coverage for the tower.

The 400ft tower used to belong to Italian tyre and cable company Pirelli.

It is understood that an Italian loss adjuster is working at the site of the crash
