Private schools are facing increases in insurance costs of up to 150%. That's according to the Independent Schools' Bursars Association.
The association claimed schools now have to hike their fees in response to the increases in insurance charges.
Independent schools are now charging in excess of £20,000 per year for the first time, it said.
Businesses and associations have struggled with increased charges for public liability insurance, following the September 11th attacks.
General secretary of the association, Mike Sant, told the BBC that public liability and buildings insurance have all increased.
He added: "There have been schools which have struggled to find any insurer willing to provide insurance cover."
