The first module of a new online training package designed to help the financial services industry fight money laundering has been launched by the British Bankers' Association (BBA).

The new e-learning programme, a joint venture between the BBA and online financial training provider Absolutely Training (ATL), will provide training for all levels of staff working in the financial services industry, including insurance and banking.

BBA chief executive Ian Mullen said: "Money-laundering systems in the UK are some of the most effective in the world and recent events have highlighted the importance of high-quality, easily accessible and reasonably priced training in money-laundering prevention."

The BBA is the principal trading body for banks in the UK, with more than 300 members.
