Mike Izzard will replace Phil Taylor

Mike Izzard was appointed chair of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries at its annual general meeting.

Izzard succeeds Phil Taylor and his term of office is expected to last two years. Izzard is currently managing director of The Premier Choice Group and has been a member of the AMII executive committee since March 2006, most recently serving as AMII’s secretary and treasurer.

Other AMII changes include the appointment of two new committee members Naomi Saragoussi, of Watson Wyatt and Debbie Kleiner-Gaines of Best Health UK, Michael Payne of the ADVO Group confirmed as secretary and Andrew Tripp of Perfect Health as Treasurer.

One of the most significant changes to the executive committee has been the appointment of Claire Ginnelly, head of business development at Groupama Healthcare as a non-executive and non-voting representative from the medical insurance providers. She will represent insurers as a whole, not just her own organisation, and play an important role in helping AMII to develop the training and continuing professional development (CPD) proposals the association will be presenting to the membership.

Izzard said: “AMII must be seen to be at the forefront of a rapidly developing medical insurance market place. It will also become more important that intermediaries and insurers work closer and closer together for the benefit of the whole industry.

“I also want to see the association lobbying government on a number of issues affecting healthcare and making sure our voice is heard loud and clear.

“The response from the larger players has been very encouraging and we hope this will continue. The additional influence they bring to the table is very valuable to the association.

“Our annual exhibition and conference on 18 June is also a great example of how our industry can come and work together. We are really delighted to have a number of interesting speakers and the event will provide many excellent CPD opportunities. Anybody from the financial services and general insurance sectors can join us, it is not just for those currently involved with PMI.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
