Lawyers will talk about “process” not only costs

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has rejoined talks to extend fixed fees to personal injury cases worth up to £25,000, the Law Society Gazette reports.

The Civil Justice Council (CJC) is conducting a mediation process to produce industry-agreed fixed costs for all fast track road traffic accident, industrial disease, employer’s liability and public liability claims. APIL walked out last month.

APIL president John McQuater said: “We originally withdrew from the talks because the CJC, acting on instructions from Lord Justice Jackson, insisted that figures only would be discussed. But the CJC has now agreed to discuss matters of process.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
