Brit Insurance Holding's deputy chairman, Andrew Shone, has resigned from his post today.

He will take early retirement, leaving on 19 April, it was announced.

Chief executive of Brit Insurance Holdings, Neil Eckert, told Insurance Times: "He has done a wonderful job over a long period of time. He was instrumental in the formation of Brit."

As a result of the company¹s move to put four syndicates into one composite, its syndicate 2987, and follow a line underwriting approach, there would be no need for a replacement, Eckert said.

Head of underwriting at syndicate 2987 remains Simon Clapham.

Shone has been with Brit and its forerunner, Wren, for over 30 years.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
