Broker Network has joined up with the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN) to allow its members to compete on the international stage.
Broker Network chief executive Grant Ellis said the association would give members access to the WBN's 53 members in 41 countries.
"It will allow independent brokers to arrange global insurance for their global clients," Ellis told Insurance Times. "It also means that members can do business internationally knowing there is a representative from the WBN locally."
The facility, he added, would not drive massive volumes of business through Broker Network members. Rather it would give Broker Network members the opportunity to compete internationally with Marsh, Aon and Willis.
He said: "Unless you are one of the big three you will struggle to get access to a facility like this. We see it as a coup for the network."
The move follows the election in June of Alec Finch director Alec Finch to chairman of the WBN. In October Finch will take office for a two-year period, but he has started the ball rolling by signing an affiliation deal with the Broker Network.
Alec Finch international director Steve Vickers said the WBN saw Broker Network members as "a solid group of professional, independent brokers that match the nature and co-operative nature of the Worldwide Broker Network".
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
