Risk managers will cover topics from intangible assets, employee benefits, technology and yachting at the Federation of European Risk Management Association's (Ferma) annual forum in October.

The Ferma conference will run from October 8 to 10, with an introduction to risk management for newcomers on October 6 and 7, at Barcelona's Hotel Intercontinental Princesa Sofia.

Association of Insurance and Risk Management (Airmic) members from the UK will join risk managers from Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland for the conference.

The conference's keynote speaker is round-the-world yachtsman Pete Goss, who is the holder of an MBE and of France's highest bravery award, the Legion d'Honneur. In his speech, “Daring to Dream”, he will tell risk managers that they must adopt a “can do” philosophy and take responsibility for what they want to achieve. .

Other speakers, such as Zurich Corporate Solutions chief executive Tom Kaiser, will concentrate on insurance-related topics, while Miquel Roca Junyent, who co-wrote the Spanish Constitution in 1978, will cover social change.
