Aon

Aon has announced four appointments to its Scottish team.

Graham Munro has been appointed public sector client manager. He has 30 years’ experience in the Scottish and London insurance markets and will be responsible for advising local authorities on risk and insurance.

He joins from Zurich Municipal where he dealt with local authorities, housing associations, leisure trusts and charities throughout Scotland.

Jennifer Stanger becomes property project manager. Stanger has been promoted from client service advisor.

Steven Black joins as broking manager to place Scottish clients’ risks, including pan-European programmes, into the local and London markets.

Mary McCausland joins as graduate trainee. She joins under the Scottish Executive’s Fresh Talent Initiative.

Insurer

Assurant Solutions

Assurant Solutions has appointed Martin Pringle as European risk director.

Pringle will be responsible for the ongoing development of commercially sound risk management processes and procedures across the firm’s European operations.

He will also oversee the actuarial function and pro-vide guidance to the exec-utive management team in determining and managing the chosen strategies of the firm. Pringle joins from Lloyds TSB

Novae

Bill Edrich has been appointed underwriting director at Novae Insurance.

Edrich was previously Novae Group’s medical malpractice underwriting manager.

Novae Syndicates has also announced management changes to Syndicate 2007.

Jonathan Butcher, the current deputy underwriter, will become active under-writer, with Ian Burford and Richard Norris becoming joint deputy underwriters.

Butcher has been with Novae since 1993, joining the board in 2002.

Lloyds TSB

Lloyds TSB Insurance has appointed Mike Canniffe as UK retail bank partnership and product development director.

Canniffe will be responsible for the commercial devel-opment of Lloyds TSB Insurance through the group’s retail banking division and will be in charge of developing insurance propositions across all distribution channels and product lines.

He joins from Royal & Sun Alliance where he spent three years, in a variety of senior positions, most recently as chief operating officer in the company’s broker division.

Groupama

Groupama has appointed Richard Saunders and Kingsley Oji as account managers to its partnership business development team.

Saunders has over 20 years’ experience in insurance, with key roles at Hill House Hammond, Jardine Lloyd Thompson and HSBC.

Oji joins Groupama follow-ing a business development role at Alexander Forbes Professions.

Arista

Arista has appointed Sian Rolfe, Andy Mayers and Richard Clarke to its underwriting team in Redhill.

Rolfe joins as senior under-writer and is responsible for new business development across a panel of the region’s brokers.

She was previously a senior local underwriter for NIG and a broker for Knighthood Corporate Assurance Services.

Mayers and Clarke join as underwriters.

Mayers joins from Markel UK where he was a specialty commercial risks underwriter while Clarke was previously commercial underwriter for NIG.

Other

Countrywide

The Countrywide network has appointed Sean Jones and Aloma Arndt as business con-sultants to help brokers deve-lop their use of new facilities and Open GI technology.

Jones joins from Broker Network where he was an IT training consultant.

Arndt previously worked for Smart & Cook in its personal lines and SME divisions.

They will be responsible for giving free on-site training and consultancy to members who have implemented new Countrywide facilities.

Arepa

Arepa UK has appointed technical restoration specialist Brian Roberts in the role of general manager, North East.

Roberts was previously project manager with ISS Damage Control and is an experienced technical restoration and engineering professional.

Bankstone

Bankstone has appointed Tom Parker in the role of national sales manager.

Parker will head Bankstone’s broker-facing sales activities, focusing initially on brokers transacting a significant volume of motorcycle insurance business – but then extending to all brokers.

He has a track record in sales following seven years with Motorcycle News.

Simon Carter has been promoted to director of specialist commercial broker Camberford Law.
Carter is now responsible for many of Camberford Law’s leading schemes including tour operators, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, caravan parks, sports and social clubs, tree surgeons, intellectual property rights and recruitment consultants.
Carter joined Camberford Law in 1999 having begun his insurance career at Aon.
Prior to this, he enjoyed a stint as a professional cricketer both in England and South Africa, having been Surrey CCC Young Cricketer of the Year in 1996 and representing England NAYC Under 19s the following year.
