Groupama said job losses are likely if its proposals to restructure personal lines claims centres are approved.

The insurer said it expected to run down its Birmingham centre, which employs 150 people and currently manages private car claims for Groupama’s supporting brokers and intermediaries.

The changes were necessary due to the falling number of claims being handled by its personal lines claims centres and competitive market conditions.

The proposals would see these jobs transferred to the group’s personal lines centre at Port Solent where it has motor and household claims handling operations.

Formal consultation on the business proposals have begun with all affected staff and followed a series of face to face staff briefings in Birmingham by managing director, Francois-Xavier Boisseau and by his senior team at all other Groupama claims locations around the country.

Relocation and redeployment opportunities will be discussed at the meetings, said Groupama. But it said job availability on the group’s other centres was likely to be “limited”.

Insurance Times first mention a restructuring move within the company’s personal lines division on 11 March.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
