Travel insurer InsureandGo said it doubled its turnover to £14m during 2003, with 50% of its sales coming through its website.

The company's managing director, James Richardson, put the success down to a stripped-down sales process and easy to use website.

He said the company planned to diversify during 2004, with expansion into other insurance areas and several product launches planned for the coming months.

Car and home insurance products would be the first new venture from the Essex-based firm, said Richardson, following the acquisition of a significant stake in car and home insurance specialist CIG Services.

Richardson said: "While we go from strength to strength on the travel side, expanding into other areas is the natural progression for InsureandGo.

"By joining forces with CIG Services Ltd we will now offer consumers a dedicated team providing highly competitive cover coupled with knowledgeable and efficient service."
