A Lockton account manager and former athlete is in a coma after suffering a concussion during a football match over the weekend.

Twenty-one-year old Kariym Irving collapsed hours after complaining of a headache on Saturday.

Earlier that day he had played in a football match for his team the Redhill Reserves.

He is believed to have suffered a concussion as a result of colliding with another player.

After his girlfriend raised the alarm he was rushed to St Georges Hospital in Tooting.

He started at the Lockton companies in December, the Evening Standard reports.

Irving was also a former member of Croydon Harriers Athletics club.

Redhill FC said in statement: “All of us are praying that [Kariym] recovers and we know he is in the best place for the care and treatment he needs.”
