Marsh & McLennan's UK division has sacked one of its senior vice-presidents, Julian Taylor, for alleged commission-related misconduct.
The move comes just over a week after it emerged that the company's US parent had instructed law firm Freshfields to conduct an investigation into whether or not the UK business has been guilty of market abuse.
Marsh has said that the dismissal of Taylor is unrelated to a civil lawsuit that has been opened against its US parent by New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer, concerning alleged anticompetitive practices. Group chairman and chief executive Jeffrey Greenberg was pressured into resigning because of Spitzer's allegations on 25 October.
