An online claims system is being launched by Churchill Insurance.

It is understood that the system will allow customers to deal with their motor claims through Churchill's website.

The development mirrors a similar move by UK police forces that have been introducing online reporting for motor accidents and car crime.

Direct Line already runs an online system, where customers can log accidents but not car crime.

Direct Line customers can also track the progress of their damaged vehicles through Direct Line's network repairers by logging on to the site. The system was launched in February 2001.

Rival motor insurer esure is against online reporting. Spokesman Adrian Webb said: "Motor accidents are moments of distress and we think that customers like a human connection at that time. There's nothing more frustrating, especially if you are upset, than error codes beeping back at you because the wrong boxes have been filled in."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
