’Landlords and local authorities offering social housing face key areas of difference from those in the private rental sector,’ says managing director
Addept Insurance Services has launched a dedicated rent guarantee and legal expenses insurance product for landlords and local authorities providing social housing in England and Wales.

The new product is designed to support landlords and local authorities who offer social housing rentals with rent arrears and eviction cover that reflects the specific circumstances of tenants.
Within the policy, annual cover offers protection to the unique aspects of letting to social housing tenants relating to tenant checks and no deposit requirements in the sector.
The optional one-month excess and delayed claims notification requirements account for the increased risk of rent arrears among social housing tenants resulting from benefit payment delays.
Meanwhile, the offering includes the addition of a mediation and rehousing service aimed at helping to resolve rent difficulties between landlords and tenants.
’Responsive and relevant’ cover
The social housing rent guarantee offering is a further expansion of Addept Insurance’s legal expenses portfolio launched in April 2025.

Richard Finan, managing director at Addept Insurance, said: “Landlords and local authorities offering social housing face key areas of difference from those in the private rental sector.
”Our solution has been developed to address these with a more responsive and relevant scope of cover, claims reporting requirements and pricing that enables social housing landlords to effectively mitigate the risks and protect against rent arrears and repossession costs.”
