’The risk landscape is changing faster than ever, but so are we,’ says chief executive
Hiscox has marked its 125th anniversary with a market open ceremony at the London Stock Exchange.

Senior leaders past and present gathered with long-serving colleagues who have helped shape the business, with group chief executive Aki Hussain opening proceedings.
He said: “Marking 125 years of Hiscox here at the London Stock Exchange is a moment of pride for everyone at Hiscox. Much has changed over 125 years, but the fundamentals of Hiscox have not.
”We have always believed in combining deep expertise with an owner’s mindset, embracing change, and finding ways to underwrite new, emerging and difficult to insure risks. That combination is what has sustained us and it will define the next chapter of our journey too.”
’Moving faster’
Originally founded as a marine underwriter at Lloyd’s, Hiscox is now a global specialist insurer operating across retail, London market and reinsurance.

Hussain added: “The risk landscape is changing faster than ever, but so are we. We’re investing in new products and markets and building the capabilities to move faster and strengthen our specialty positions.
”Our ambition is to build a business that is as relevant and resilient in the future as it has been in the past – and to do so in a way that stays true to the values that have shaped us.”
