Chief executive is ‘excited by the impact’ the new hire will have on the business as it seeks to transform into an insurtech
Motorcycle cover provider MCE Insurance has appointed QBE’s global head of claims performance and governance Paul Ormiston as its new claims director.
Ormiston, who has 25 years of industry experience, will take responsibility for overhauling MCE’s claims handling processes and will have oversight of the entire claims function.
As part of his new role, Ormiston will have the opportunity to implement new claims initiatives, to help drive cost savings across the business and promote a smoother, quicker claims experience for customers through the use of digitisation.
Ormiston will also join MCE’s board.
Speaking on the appointment, MCE’s chief executive Julian Edwards said: “The creation of a claims director role was a strategic decision that reflects our customer-centric approach.
“The bottom line is, that in the event of a claim, the customer should expect a best-in-class service.
“Paul brings to the table extensive experience in creating and managing claims automation strategies and we are excited by the impact we know he can have on the business.”
Ormiston added: “MCE has the tech to transform customer satisfaction at the point when they need it most – when they have a claim.
“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead the development of that process.
“Having spoken with Julian Edwards, it was clear to me that the board had already identified that the business must become a true insurtech and that a clearly defined claims automation strategy would be a central tenant of this evolution.
“I’m very excited to have that remit as my responsibility. It’s an opportunity to have a real impact on a forward-thinking business.”
Established in 1975, MCE Insurance is a motorcycle insurance provider. The business includes MCE Insurance Brokers, based in Northamptonshire, and MCE Insurance, a Gibraltar-domiciled insurance company.
Although specialising in bike-related risks, MCE has a growing portfolio of car, van and household insurance business across the UK.
