The new hire brings more than 10 years of experience managing global D&O claims to the role

London-based directors’ and officers’ (D&O) managing general agent (MGA) Rising Edge has appointed Owen Dacey as head of claims.

The new hire brings more than 10 years of experience to the role, managing high value complex D&O claims across the globe.

He joins from Axa XL, where his responsibilities included serving as claims manager and regional practice leader of management liability.

This move follows the start-up scooping Axa XL’s chief executive Kelly Lyles as non-executive chair to its board in March 2021.

Appointment boosts claims proposition

In his new role, Dacey will work as part of the senior management team at Rising Edge and will be responsible for all claims-related matters – this will include handling claims at the outset, reporting to the company’s stakeholders on claims data, as well as working with underwriters on wordings and product development.

More generally, he will be responsible for devising and implementing a market leading claims proposition for the MGA’s clients and brokers.

Rising Edge chief executive Philippe Gouraud said: “I am delighted to officially welcome Owen on board.

“His appointment demonstrates Rising Edge’s commitment to excellence in service and attests our ability to handle our clients and brokers needs on an end-to-end basis, from underwriting to claims handling.”

Prior to joining Axa XL, Dacey served as team manager of complex financial lines across the UK and Ireland at AIG. He is also a qualified solicitor.

Yoel Brightman, managing director at Rising Edge, added: “By building on Owen’s extensive complex claims experience, we are committed to delivering insight in order to more effectively work with our clients on improving their D&O liability risk profile.”

Dacey’s appointment was first announced when the company launched in May.
