Previous chief executive Lance Gibbins will become the business’s chair

MGA Occam Underwriting has promoted chief financial officer Mark Fisher to the role of chief executive.

This promotion is part of the MGA’s strategic plan to expand the company into different lines of business, outside of its current remit of complex energy and space risks.

Fisher has been chief financial officer at Occam for three years. He has 25 years’ worth of experience within the industry, working with both carriers and MGAs since starting his career in auditing.

Prior to joining Occam, he held senior finance roles at Liberty Mutual, CNA Insurance and Ironshore.

Previous chief executive Lance Gibbins, who has served as the company’s boss since 2018, will remain with Occam as chair.

Expanding the business

Gibbins said: “I am pleased to hand over the day-to-day running of Occam to such a talented insurance leader as Mark.

“I am really happy to be able to support Mark in my position of chair and Occam is in good hands as it moves to the next stage of its growth and development.”

Fisher added: “This is a really exciting time for Occam.

“We will be expanding the business to take advantage of new and emerging risks which require complex insurance protection - more announcements will follow.

“I am thrilled at having the opportunity to lead Occam into its next phase of growth and I am delighted that I will be able to continue to draw on Lance’s experience and expertise.”

The promotion is subject to regulatory approval.
