Insurance Times rounds up the biggest appointments and promotions from 28 October to 1 November

Starting off the week, (re)insurer MS Amlin named Jo Hine and Andrew Downes as two new independent non-executive directors.

Hine will become chair of the risk and solvency committee, subject to regulatory approval. 

Downes, meanwhile, joins the board following a 20-year stint as an audit partner at Deloitte.

Then, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) elected Nicola Stacey, chief underwriting officer at global specialty (re)insurance firm Chaucer, as its new president, effective from 1 January 2025.

Following this, UK digital insurtech MGA Ripe appointed David Rowntree as its new chief underwriting officer.

In his new role, Rowntree will be responsible for developing underwriting and pricing across the MGA’s propositions.

And then, incident management service provider FMG promoted Andy Chandler to the role of managing director.

Rounding off the week, Lloyd’s global reinsurer MS Amlin appointed Paul Lucas as chief actuary.

Lucas will be responsible for all actuarial operations, including reserving and pricing, while supporting the business’ strategic long-term growth objectives.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
