AIG is about to complete the appointment of its new business development managers, following the restructuring of its regional and branch offices.

The regions previously had nine managers. Six have been retained, one took early retirement and two have been redeployed.

An AIG spokeswoman said the new managers would act as access points to the regional underwriting teams.

Bluesure plan
Bluesure, the direct personal line specialist, expects to sign up at least 350 brokers in the next 18 months, according to marketing director Robert Stephens.

"That is our target figure and we will be offering both technical and marketing support," he said.

The first to sign is independent broker Berry Birch & Noble (BBN), which will offer bluesure's all-encompassing personal lines policy including motor, household, pet and travel.

In addition to new
business, BBN will be transferring a significant existing customer portfolio to bluesure. Customers will be offered the bluesure policy, which is more comprehensive than most other policies available.

Stephens said this week's British Insurance Brokers' Association's (Biba) conference in Manchester was a "golden opportunity for deal-making".

Admiral search site
Insurer Admiral is developing a new website that acts as a motor insurance search engine over the internet.

The site, confused.com, shops for car insurance on behalf of the customer and then presents a list of prices. If the customer wishes to take up one of the quotes, a £15 charge is levied and the names of the quoting insurers are then forwarded, with links to those insurers' own websites.

The idea is to help the customer avoid trawling through several sites or making numerous telephone calls.
