Brokers and intermediaries can obtain advice into improving staff management in a report from CGU's business intelligence team, called Taking Your Team to the Top.

The publication, which was commissioned by CGU following research last year, has been written by specialist human resources consultants in conjunction with a focus group of brokers and intermediaries.

The new report includes a guide to the latest British and EU employment legislation and offers advice on recruitment, interviewing techniques and health and safety issues.

There are also features on personnel policy, administration matters, mergers and acquisitions, dealing with absence and poor performance, references and retaining good employees.

CGU broker partnering consultant, Anne Peters, said: "CGU has worked very close with HR experts to produce this best practice report. Brokers have been involved in the process from the beginning, so we know that this report provides them with very useful information on their most important business asset – their staff."
