Amlin has announced that the underwriting team for its new $1bn Amlin Bermuda operation will be headed by underwriting director John Andrews.
Andrews currently underwrites Amlin's proportional treaty account and is syndicate underwriter for Amlin Credit.
Ben Savill is the second underwriter joining the Bermuda team. His current role at Amlin is property treaty underwriter with responsibility for US and Canadian accounts.
Andrews and Savill will be supported by assistant underwriters Lisa O'Toole and Sophie Chapman.
Amlin said it anticipates that the team will be in place in early December in order to underwrite for the key 1 January renewals.
It added that while initially business will comprise primarily excess of loss reinsurance, other lines including proportional treaty will be written by Amlin Bermuda.
David Harris, Amlin's operations director, will be overseeing the set-up of the business in its initial phase.
