Australian insurance firms will be flexible towards the victims of the Bali terrorist attacks.

The Insurance Disaster Response Organisation (IDRO) has announced that insurers will not invoke fine-print terrorist exclusions. The exclusions would normally leave victim's facing huge bills.

The IDRO's Chris Henry said: "We're suggesting to people, whether they're victims of the attacks or just embroiled in the Bali situation generally, to get in touch with their insurance company.

"They should get the instructions from either of those organisations specific to their policy and to their needs."

The terrorism clauses will not apply to death, medical and repatriation costs, he added. The IDRO is also considering covering cancellation fees.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
