Reinsurance intermediary Benfield has appointed former XL Re executive Fred Madsen as executive vice president.
Madsen will have responsibility for expanding the company’s specialist capabilities, said Rod Fox, chief executive officer of Benfield’s US operations.
Prior to his appointment, Madsen was president of XL Re America, where he oversaw broker and direct sales, reinsurance underwriting and associated operations.
Before his role at XL Re, Madsen was executive vice president and chief casualty underwriter at NAC Re, and casualty underwriter for General RE and Aetna Life and Casualty.
