Alarm chief executive Sheila Boyce announced she is to leave her post at the end of her three-year contract.
Boyce said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed the last three years, helping the association take forward a range of initiatives designed to improve risk management practices and policies.
"There are many other things I want to do, however, and it's an appropriate time for someone new to come in and build on the foundations I hope I have helped to lay."
Bob Cope, chairman of Alarm, the national forum for risk management in the public sector, said its council members would now begin work to recruit a new chief executive.
