‘He is a proven leader and champion of how data strategies can drive customer outcomes,’ says COO
Allianz UK has named Akhil Lalwani as its chief data officer (CDO) after creating a new centralised data function.
In his new role, Lalwani will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the data centre.
He will also oversee the data strategy, privacy and governance, data architecture, data engineering and business intelligence teams.
He will report to Fergal Coburn, chief operating officer at Allianz UK.
Coburn said: “I look forward to welcoming Lalwani to Allianz UK. He joins my leadership team at an exciting time as we look to drive further innovation and value by centralising the data function.”
Experience
Lalwani previously served as CDO at Convex Insurance. He also held senior positions at Prudential – where he led digital growth and customer experience initiatives – as well as at Barclays and BT.

Lalwani also serves as an advisory board member for Ataccama, an international software company.
