The move comes following the passing of chief executive Michael van der Straaten
Antares Global has updated its management structure following the passing of chief executive Michael van der Straaten in July 2026.

The firm – a subsidiary of the Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) – will be managed by Ahmed El Tabbakh, group chief business officer for international markets at QIC, who will oversee a partially reorganised senior management team.
Mark Graham will continue in his role as chief executive of Antares’ commercial division – including AMAL Syndicate 1274 and Bermuda-based Antares Re – as does Pantelis Koulovasilopoulos in his role as retail chief executive, comprising of Antares Insurance Company and Scorpius MGA.
Antares said that, as part of the new structure, certain shared business functions – including claims, actuarial, compliance, risk and some operational facets – will be split into distinct departments to separately support Koulovasilopoulos’ retail and Graham’s commercial divisions.
The split, the firm added, will allow it to deliver a more focused and dedicated level of specialist support for both business units.
Expanded role
Meanwhile, the Antares Legacy division will continue to be led by Jagdis Barber.
