‘By providing MGAs with access to capacity and operational expertise, we enable talented underwriters to focus on what they do best – underwriting,’ says chief executive

Insurance firm Antares Global has established a new platform, Scorpius MGA, to be led by incoming chief executive Ian Morris.

Antares said the new platform will be a “facilitator of MGA business, combining access to capacity, services and oversight within a single platform”.

The platform’s central focus will be to connect MGAs with underwriting capacity from Antares Insurance Company, a move the firm hopes will broaden its distribution and deepen its presence in specialist and retail segments.

The platform, it added, will provide “centralised operational oversight and governance”, allowing greater flexibility for it to support brokers, underwriting partners and customers, as well as standardise MGA onboarding and access to services.

Such services will include Antares’ key offerings of pricing, modelling and exposure management.

The Scorpius MGA platform also contains functionality to match MGAs to third-party capacity, should the proposition fall outside of Antares’ underwriting goals.

Natural progression

Morris said: “The platform is the natural progression to consolidate our long-standing relationship with the MGA market through a centralised, specialist platform.

“By providing MGAs with access to capacity and operational expertise, we enable talented underwriters to focus on what they do best – underwriting.”

Mike van der Straaten, chief executive at Antares Global, added: “This is a strategic evolution of our relationship with the MGA market.

“Antares has a long history and deep experience of supporting MGAs. These partnerships strengthen our ability to access high quality distribution, support specialist underwriters and diversify the business into new markets.

“Launching Scorpius is the natural next step as we continue to expand, allowing Antares to deploy its capital more effectively while redefining MGA infrastructure for the next generation.”
