The new hires join from GoCompare and SSP

Ardonagh-owned broker Atlanta Group has created two new senior roles to help broaden its distribution reach and product range.

The new positions include director of trading for aggregators and innovation, which will be filled by GoCompare’s former director of partner development Mark Greening, and director of wholesale, which will be undertaken by Ron Atkinson, the ex-head of insurer relationships and distribution director at software firm SSP.

Ian Donaldson, chief executive of Atlanta Group, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Mark and Ron to the Atlanta family.

“Their experience, insight and perspectives are invaluable additions to the team as we continue to grow in partnership with our insurers to deliver long term value for customers.”

The golden era of broking

Greening has spent the past 12 years at GoCompare – during his tenure, he shaped the price comparison website’s commercial strategy across a range of products.

Prior to GoCompare, he worked at Admiral, Confused.com and Lloyds Banking Group.

At Atlanta Group, however, Greening will be responsible for how brands such as Swinton, Autonet, Marmalade, Be Wiser and Carole Nash optimise their strategy on price comparison websites. He will also oversee the distribution of new product launches.

He said: “Having dealings with the team at Atlanta for many years I have always been impressed with the way it does business with such a positive and a genuine ‘can do’ attitude.

“The business has been on a huge growth curve over the last few years and I believe we are entering a golden era of broking as we emerge from Covid. I’m really pleased to be part of that journey.”

Atkinson, meanwhile, joins the broker from SSP, where he had responsibility for Keychoice – the firm’s insurance distribution group. Here, Atkinson worked with insurers and data partners to deliver the best terms for independent broker members.

Prior to SSP, he spent 30 years at Swinton in a variety of roles.

In his new role, Atkinson will oversee the roll out and expansion of Atlanta Hub - a hosting, rating and distribution platform that will harness Atlanta’s view of data, analytics and fraud to offer insights that aim to improve the personal lines insurance products available for brokers.

Atkinson added: “Atlanta is a dynamic digital business with a tremendous growth story.

“I am really looking forward to working with colleagues old and new to innovate and reach new customers through new channels.”
