Markerstudy paid £185m for its underwriting business, CIS General Insurance in February last year

Markerstudy is unconcerned over the delay in approving its takeover of the Co-op GI business, despite approval being slated for the end of H1, 2019.

Markerstudy paid £185m for its underwriting business, CIS General Insurance in February last year.

The deal includes a 13-year distribution agreement for Markerstudy to offer, under the Co-op Insurance brand, home and motor policies to the Co-op’s 4.6m active members.

Today Markerstudy group underwriting director Gary Humphreys told Insurance Times: “You can never put an exact time limit to these things; and we appreciate that currently there’s a great deal going on for the PRA with Brexit, but we’re supportive of this.”

Qatar Re’s takeover of Markerstudy’s underwriting businesses itself was approved in July 2018, several months after the £104m deal was announced.
