PCH managing director says acquisition is ‘major opportunity for the business’

Brown and Brown Europe has acquired Healthcover Limited through its health insurance intermediary hub Premier Choice Healthcare (PCH), a statement released today (18 October 2023) said.

Intermediary Healthcover, which is based in Brighton, writes both personal and business private medical insurance (PMI) and specialises in international health cover for UK-based customers.

PCH managing director Stephen Hough said purchasing the firm would “support our strategic ambitions for the UK”.

“Crucially, [it] also provides us with expansion and deep experience in the international PMI market, which we see as a major opportunity for the business,” he added.

Moves

The acqusition is PCH’s 10th deal since joining Brown and Brown Europe in August 2020.

The firm explained that its most recent acquisition of Healthcover will see the whole team become part of PCH across the UK.

Directors James Dwyer and Shaun Hart will join as PMI consultant and business healthcare consultant respectively.

And two Healthcover employees – Jo Walbrin and Rachael Bown – will additionally join PCH’s consumer specialist division, Equity Health Solutions.

Dwyer said: “We are very excited to join the team at PCH as it will give each of us the opportunity to broaden our reach and client base within a business that is forward-thinking and innovative.

“Becoming part of the Brown and Brown team was also a key consideration for us, with all the benefits accruing from being part of one of the world’s leading brokerages.”
