The appointment is the fruition of succession planning within the business
Premier Choice Healthcare (PCH), the health insurance intermediary owned by American broker Brown and Brown, has promoted Darren Perkins to managing director, succeeding Stephen Hough.

Perkins first joined PCH in 2021. Prior to this, he was client relationship director – with responsibility for the southern sales team – at fellow broker Towergate. During his career, he has also held claims and sales-based roles at Bristol Contributory Welfare Association and Jelf Group.
Perkins is succeeding current managing director Stephen Hough, who is moving into a role more focused on acquisitions and strategy.
Speaking on the appointment, Hough said: “It is fantastic to see the succession planning we’ve done continue to take shape.
“Darren has been working alongside me over the last three years and we are confident that he will do great things in his new role.”
Goal setting
Perkins’ promotion was announced at PCH’s most recent annual sales conference, held at Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire on 22 May 2024.

Other appointments confirmed at the event include Debbie Leggatt taking up the mantle of operations director, replacing Teresa Ostle.
Leggatt has held a number of positions at PCH and was most recently the firm’s head of network and division services.
In his new role, Perkins will have responsibility for steering PCH’s next stage of strategic growth.
Perkins said: “I am delighted to take on this role and the opportunity to have worked with Stephen and be a part of the strategic plan for the business have well prepared me.
“I am looking forward to leading the team as we work to achieve our next goal.”
