Gallagher has appointed David Rush to its UK board as an independent non-executive director.

As part of his role, Rush will become the chair of the Audit Committee, replacing Jamie Drummond-Smith.
Drummond-Smith will be standing down as a non-executive director in February 2026, having served 12 years with the business.
Michael Rea, chief executive at Gallagher in the UK and Ireland, said: “The appointment of Rush reflects our goal of bringing further independent, external perspectives and expertise to our board.
“Rush joins Gallagher’s UK business at an exciting time as we have recently completed the acquisition of AssuredPartners, which brings over 1,000 new talented colleagues in the UK and Ireland into our team, giving us an enviable springboard for further expansion.”
Experience
Rush has experience in financial services, having spent nearly 40 years at Deloitte in Australia and the UK where he was a partner, a member of the global insurance executive team and head of EMEA insurance.

He has also invested in and served on the boards of startup ventures innovating in health, renewable energy and recycled resources.
He is currently the chairman at WeAre.xyz, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered online collaborative archive builder.
Sue Langley, non-executive UK chair at Gallagher, said: “Having enjoyed a long career at Deloitte, Rush brings a wealth of market knowledge and experience and I am thrilled to welcome him to our UK board.
“Rush has a strong track record of working with large organisations in the insurance sector throughout his career and his insights will prove highly valuable as we continue to expand.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
