’This summit is about delivering lasting, generational change,’ says chief of market performance
The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) and Lloyd’s have announced that they will host an underwriting talent summit.
The event will be held on 24 November at the Lloyd’s building. Female underwriting leaders, together with their chief executives and chief underwriting officers from across the market, will come together to discuss how to foster female underwriting leadership and drive policy change.
The theme of the summit, Ring the Bell, celebrates the women who currently hold senior positions in underwriting and highlights the work still to do in building a future pipeline of senior female underwriting leaders.
Sheila Cameron, chief executive at the LMA, said: “It is well recognised that there is a significant shortage of women in senior underwriting roles in the Lloyd’s market.
”This event is a call to action to ‘ring the bell’ and implement meaningful change to facilitate the growth and development of the next generation of female underwriting leaders in our market.”
Rachel Turk, chief of market performance at Lloyd’s, added: “This summit is about delivering lasting, generational change. It’s not about virtue signalling — it’s about taking purposeful action, rooted in the clear understanding that diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making and drive better outcomes.
”Every business in our market and the wider industry stand to benefit from a broader pool of underwriting talent. The reality is simple, we need more women in underwriting and we must be deliberate in creating pathways to bring them into these roles.”
