The candidate started out in Marsh’s graduate scheme

Broker Marsh has promoted Alex Guerin to head of office for its UK corporate business in London.

In his new role, Guerin will lead Marsh’s London-based corporate business team, which is responsible for advising clients on risk exposures, devising solutions to help clients increase their operational resilience and assisting clients to mitigate risks they face.

The team represents businesses across all industry sectors in the city, including financial services, banking, retail and hospitality.

Guerin will report to Andrew Wilton, managing director of UK corporate’s South region.

Wilton said: “Across the UK, organisations are facing increasing challenges in areas such as cyber, sustainability and health and safety. With a wealth of hands-on client experience, Alex brings much practical risk and insurance expertise to this leadership role.”

Reaching career potential

Guerin joined the broker in 2012 as part of Marsh’s graduate scheme. Most recently, he worked in the UK risk management business as client executive, where he served a broad range of FTSE clients.

In 2015, Biba named Guerin as its National Young Broker of the Year.

Wilton added: “As we continue to recruit more graduates, Alex’s appointment demonstrates the breadth of opportunities available across the business for colleagues to reach their career potential at Marsh.”

Guerin said: “I am excited by the opportunity to work with a great team of colleagues in our London office as they meet the changing needs of clients.

“I look forward to broadening our engagement with the businesses we serve, to support and advise them on the key risk challenges they face.”

Marsh is an insurance broker and risk advisor with approximately 40,000 colleagues operating in more than 130 countries. It is part of Marsh McLennan, which has an annual revenue over $17bn.

Its two-year graduate scheme seeks to recruit candidates across four primary areas: broking, client executive, projects and client advisory services.
