’When approached for this role it took no time at all to appreciate this is a company with massive potential,’ says new non-executive director

Qlaims has appointed industry heavyweight and Insurance Times columnist Stuart Reid as its new non-executive director, according to a statement released today (4 September 2023).

Qlaims’ insurance cover provides clients with their own claims specialist to prepare and manage their property claims.

Reid will bring over 35 years of insurance industry experience to his new role – he has previously worked as chief executive of Stuart Alexander, executive chairman and chief executive of Bluefin and as chief executive of UK retail broking at Arthur J Gallagher.

In addition, he has also completed stints as the vice president of the Chartered Insurance Institute and as chair of its broking faculty, as well as acted as Biba’s deputy chair and chair of its large brokers committee.

Reid said that he “cannot wait to get started” and looked forward to joining “a strong board”.

He continued: “I’m excited to join Liz [Latter] and the team at such a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution.

“When approached for this role it took no time at all to appreciate this is a company with massive potential and I will do my very best to help Qlaims realise it.”

Current roles

Reid currently holds roles as chair at Partners& and Pikl and as a non-executive director at Harbour Underwriting.

Liz Latter, chief executive officer of Qlaims, commented: “I’m thrilled Stuart has joined us. “He brings a strong broking acumen to our non-executive director team, providing us with balance and increased expertise across the board.

“I’m looking forward to working with Stuart and hearing his views on how we can support brokers and their clients with their claims. His insights will be valuable to us as we grow and broaden our propositions.”

Simon Cooter, Qlaims’ chairman, added: “I’m delighted that Stuart has agreed to join the board of Qlaims.

“He’ll bring huge experience, know-how and energy to the business and I’m really looking forward to working with him on the next stage of our Qlaims journey.”
