’Through the school essentials programme, we’re providing targeted support that can make a meaningful difference,’ says chief executive
The Insurance Charity has launched a new school essentials grants programme, providing financial support to people from the insurance sector with school-age children who are facing the ongoing pressures of household and education-related costs.

In this new grants programme, awards of £250 per child in the UK will be offered to help cover a range of school-related expenses, including clothing and footwear, equipment, activities and school trips.
The programme is open to eligible current and former insurance professionals across the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands who are receiving means-tested benefits.
The launch forms part of The Insurance Charity’s Awareness Week campaign (22 – 26 June), which aims to increase understanding of the financial support and practical guidance available to insurance people and their dependents and encourage the industry to spread the word to colleagues, former colleagues, friends and family members who could benefit.
‘Meaningful difference’
Throughout its awareness week, The Insurance Charity said that it will be encouraging individuals and organisations across the sector to help raise awareness of the confidential support available.

Helen Sanson, chief executive at The Insurance Charity, said: “We know that many families continue to feel the impact of the cost-of-living pressures that have affected household budgets over recent years.
”School uniforms, equipment, extracurricular activities and trips can quickly add up, particularly for families with more than one child. Through the school essentials programme, we’re providing targeted support that can make a meaningful difference.
”We want people to know that this help is available, whether they’re a current insurance employee, a former industry professional, a first-time applicant to the charity or someone who has received support from us before.”
