The insurer hopes that the new hire will ‘cement’ its market position

Zurich Municipal has appointed Amy Brettell as its new managing director.

Brettell has nearly 15 years of experience within Zurich in various roles, including chief of staff and – most recently – head of customer for the UK claims division.

She succeeds incumbent Andrew Jepp – who will step down after 40 years at Zurich – and will begin in her new role on 1 October 2022.

Tim Bailey, Zurich chief executive, said: “Amy was the standout successor for this role and the speed at which she has reached such a senior position is testament to her talent.

“She will be a really valuable addition to the executive team, where she will cement Zurich Municipal’s leading market position.”

Homecoming

Amy Brettell said: “Zurich Municipal is where I began my career, so this feels a homecoming for me. It’s a great business with passionate people and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to drive its future growth.

“Public and voluntary sector organisations play an integral role in society, but they also face a variety of rapidly evolving risks.”

Jepp added: “I am enormously proud of everything we have achieved together to support our customers.

As we now consider the next strategic cycle looking out to 2025, I feel the time is right to move on. I can’t think of a better leader than Amy to capitalise on the opportunities ahead.”

Bailey thanked Jepp for his “outstanding contribution” to Zurich.
