Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has announced changes to its board of directors following the announcement of the retirement of Bob Ayling, with immediate effect.

R&SA chairman John Napier said Ayling had deferred his retirement at the company's request last year.

R&SA has appointed David Page as group risk director and executive board member.

Page, who joins from Aviva, has been appointed to replace Rick Hudson, following his retirement.

Page has previously held the roles of global finance transformation director and global business risk director at Aviva. R&SA said Page had also held risk and finance roles at Zurich, NatWest and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

R&SA group chief executive Andy Haste said: “I am delighted that David has agreed to join us. He has a well-established track record in risk management across financial services.

“His appointment will strengthen the management and board of the company in this key area.”
