Almost a half of businesses (46%) do not have a business continuity plan, research from AXA has revealed.
The insurer says this is a worrying statistic, particularly because 17% of businesses claim to have been affected by a disaster in the past. Around 8% claim it took them over six months before they were up and running again.
Doug Barnett, risk control strategy manager at AXA, said: “Every year, thousands of enterprises fold but some of these could be saved if they had a strong business continuity plan in place.”
63% of businesses in the Midlands and South West have business continuity plans against only 48% in the South East. In London, only 49% of those surveyed had a plan in place.
