In a world where political correctness runs riot, Budget decided to investigate whether women are really offended by cat calls.

Surprisingly, of the 1,656 women interviewed, almost 50% found attention from workmen and van drivers flattering and 42% said it put them in a good mood. A further 3% said they were sexually aroused by catcalls.

The research also showed 16 to 24-year-olds are more likely to grab the attentions of would-be cat callers - although older women prefer to be whistled at.

Backchat wonders whether Budget could use the research to defend itself from potential sexual harassment lawsuits?
