AssuredPartners acquires specialist recycling broker to ‘accelerate’ growth

AssuredPartners (AP) has acquired recycling specialist GM Insurance Brokers, a statement released today (7 June 2023) has said.

Exeter-based GM was established in 2004 and handles in the region of £10m gross written premium (GWP).

The business provides a range of commercial insurance solutions across a variety of sectors, including placing coverage for the recycling industry as well as in trade and construction.

AssuredPartners UK and Ireland chief executive David Heathfield said the firm met the GM team “through a recent acquisition and knew immediately that they would be a great addition to our growing network of companies”.

’Ambitious plans’

As part of the move, the entire GM team will remain in their current roles under the leadership of managing directors Gavin Mead and Lee Galan-Davis.

“Gavin and Lee have built a great business over the years and have ambitious plans for growth,” Heathfield said.

“We look forward to working with the entire team and providing them with the support which will allow them to accelerate the growth of their company in the years ahead.”

Founded in 2011, AP provides insurance cover across the UK, Ireland and US.

Mead and Galan-Davis said the approach of the firm ”was refreshingly different”.

“After meeting the senior team, we were excited about the future with AP,” they added.

“We are really proud of what we have achieved and firmly believe that this new chapter gives us the opportunity to keep growing the business without compromising on our ethos, which has served us so well.”
