He brings ’particular insight into the needs of retail brokers and the technical expertise to deliver an outcomes-based approach’, says managing partner
Consilium has appointed Tom Owen as the new business executive in its risk solutions division as part of plans to bolster its regional presence.
In his new role, Owen will be travelling across the UK to meet regional brokers, discuss their challenges and explore new opportunities for the Aventum-owned broking business.
He brings six years of experience to the position, spanning both retail broking and claims, with particular expertise in high-risk construction, contractors all risks and liability.
Matt Pini, managing partner for risk solutions at Consilium, said: “As a team we’re 100% focused on delivering a differentiated service-driven approach for our retail broking partners, working in mutually beneficial ways to help them serve clients across a broad and deep range of sectors and sustainably grow their businesses.
“Owen is a very welcome addition to our team, bringing particular insight into the needs of retail brokers and the technical expertise to deliver an outcomes-based approach.”
Experience
Owen joins from Brown and Brown, where he has spent the last year working as a senior commercial account executive in the UK.

Before this, he spent four years at Flint Insurance, where he was most recently a commercial account executive.
Speaking about his new role, Owen said: “I’ve aspired to a career in wholesale broking for some time and there is no better place than Consilium. Having worked with it as a retail broker, I can confidently say that its approach stands out from the crowd.
“It’s service-led, value driven, and at a time of huge consolidation, its independent status means they can be relied upon to always deliver the best results. Added to this its great people, an exciting culture and it’s clear that taking this role was an obvious next step for me. I can’t wait to get started.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
