Insurance Times rounds up the most significant appointments, promotions and leadership changes from 15 to 19 September 2025

At the start of the week, Allianz confirmed that Glyn Hughes will join as managing director of its personal broker business.

Hughes will step into the role in February 2026, reporting to Serge Raffard, managing director of Allianz’s personal lines business. He will succeed Nicola George, who leaves the insurer in October.

Then, Bspoke Group announced the appointment of Ryan Gill as its new chief executive after being acquired by Aon-owned NFP.

Gill, who was previously chief commercial officer, succeeds Tim Smyth, who will become deputy chair. Gill will also join NFP’s executive leadership team across the UK and Ireland.

Following this, Seventeen Group confirmed that Oliver Thorne will become its new chief executive, with Paul Anscombe retiring later this year.

Thorne joins from Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions, where he has been managing director for the last three years. He also previously held regional leadership roles at Gallagher.

After that, Specialist Risk Group appointed Sasa Brcerevic as group chief commercial officer, a newly created role.

Brcerevic joins from Aon, where he was managing director for the carrier solutions group. He has also held senior roles at Hiscox, including US head of field.

Rounding off the week, Reading-based Academy Insurance Services rebranded as BDH Group and appointed Gordon Crosbie as chief executive.

Crosbie will oversee a restructure that splits the group into three operating segments.

This includes Premierline, AIB and BDH Insurance Broking. He said the group would target both organic and inorganic growth, as well as moving into the MGA and employee benefits sectors.
