BCWA Healthcare is launching a new travel insurance package in conjunction with Primary Direct.

The package, which offers up to a year's cover, is available to intermediaries with a 10% commission on every new policy sold.

This launch marks the first time Primary Direct has worked with a primary medical insurer.

Marketing director Philip Fowles said the move into travel by the healthcare insurer was a logical one: “We've always tried to ensure adequate cover on the health side of travel insurance – particularly when travelling long-haul to places like America, where the cost of treatment is quite high. So there is a natural link between the two.”

BCWA Travel Insurance has four cover options: single-trip, annual cover, backpacking and winter sports. The options provide up to £10m in medical insurance and up to £2m in personal liability.

Unlike other travel policies, BCWA covers children individually on family packages, which means they are still covered if they travel alone.

Statistics show that the number of people taking more than one holiday a year is increasing. Faced with these figures, Fowles said he believed customers could make substantial savings by purchasing annual rather than single-trip cover.

“This is great news for clients and intermediaries alike,” he said.
