Mid-market managing director says move ’empowers underwriters to work closely and quickly with broker partners’

Allianz Commercial has made several appointments to form a financial lines team that will operate across three new regional hubs.

The team will focus solely on directors and officers (D&O) and professional indemnity offerings.

Dave Carey, Allianz Commercial’s mid-market managing director, said that “the creation of regional hubs maximises local opportunities and empowers our underwriters to work closely and quickly with our broker partners in those areas”.

“We have ambitious plans for growth and I’m excited that we’re embarking on this new strategy together”, he said.

Appointments

For its Northern Hub – covering Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Belfast – Allianz Commercial has hired Gareth Machin as senior financial lines underwriter.

He will be joined by financial lines underwriters Maggie Kwok and David Aguirreburualde.

Meanwhile, Luke Hayne has been appointed as senior financial lines underwriter for the Midlands/South West Hub, which covers Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff.

Hayne will work alongside financial lines underwriters Antionette Amory, Caitlin Davies and Daniel West.

And for the South East Hub – covering Maidstone, Chelmsford, London and Southampton – Allianz Commercial has hired Lucy Bunnett as senior professional indemnity underwriter.

Carey said that the business had “invested heavily in recruiting the best people”.

“I’m very happy to unveil our new look financial lines underwriting team,” he added.

”With a mixture of new faces and existing Allianz talent, we have highly experienced and talented experts in place.”
