’I have no doubt that under his direction, we will continue to elevate our leadership position and amplify our relevance to our brokers,’ says chief underwriting officer

Arch Insurance International has appointed Jelle Ouwehand as its new head of terrorism, political violence and war.

Ouwehand will be responsible for leading the team’s underwriting activities across a broad portfolio.

This includes terrorism, strikes, riots and civil commotion, malicious damage, political violence, war, nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological, terrorism liability and organised crime.

He will be based in London and report to Arch Insurance International’s chief underwriting officer for short tail lines Lino Leoni.

Leoni said: “I have no doubt that under Ouwehand’s direction, we will continue to elevate our leadership position and amplify our relevance to our brokers in an increasingly complex and evolving insurance marketplace.”

Experience

Ouwehand brings over 15 years of experience in the terrorism, political violence and war insurance sector and has a background in both underwriting and broking.

Most recently, he served as a senior underwriter for this sector at Arch Insurance International.

Before joining the firm, he was a senior terrorism, political violence and war broker at Marsh.

Leoni said: “Ouwehand’s market standing, level of technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to service make him a natural fit to lead the team.”
