‘We are looking to furnish people with the essential skills and professional networks they need to establish successful careers,’ says head

The International Underwriting Association (IUA) has launched a new online hub aimed at providing education opportunities to recent entrants of the London market.

The platform, known as IUA Futures, will provide details of the technical training programmes, networking events and other initiatives hosted by the association.

The association said it had already planned a series of London market “bootcamps” for incoming talent across 2026, as well as four “policy-wording masterclasses” to highlight fundamental concepts relating to the drafting of insurance contracts.

Such events run alongside the IUA’s regular schedule of networking breakfasts and business classes.

Effective development

The new initiative is fronted by underwriting and claims executive at the IUA, Ela Metalia, who herself is a recent entrant to the industry having graduated from Queen Mary University London in 2022.

Metalia, said: “There has been much recent attention on the London market’s need to boost its recruitment of new talent, but it is just as important to ensure those people entering the market are trained and developed effectively.

“This is what the IUA Futures programme seeks to achieve. We are looking to furnish people with the essential skills and professional networks they need to establish successful careers.

“Our programme connects NextGen practitioners with senior industry figures, who can share practical knowledge and expertise. The new IUA Futures online hub will be a central resource for our growing range of opportunities.”
