’I’m excited to see the business grow as we develop and launch new schemes in the coming years,’ says chief executive

Acies MGU has created a new MGA that will offer specific propositions to different industries and niche sectors.

Called Acies Specialist Schemes, the new MGA aims to have a portfolio of products that are not typically provided by the general marketplace.

It is launching with an offering for recruitment companies, with this first product being backed by A-rated capacity.

The proposition offers a combination of professional indemnity, public liability, employers’ liability, as well as property and business interruption. It also covers risks associated with contractual liabilities, overseas placements and other sector-specific challenges.

Acies MGU chief executive Mark Heath said:Acies MGU is committed to growing its portfolio of diversified specialist MGAs with experienced underwriters passionate about offering a great service to our brokers.

“Our new specialist schemes business has been created to address the needs of various sectors that deserve high-quality cover, not often easily available elsewhere.

“Our specialist technical underwriters have deep market expertise and knowledge required to tailor such products and I’m excited to see the business grow as we develop and launch new schemes in the coming years.”

Appointments

Acies MGU has appointed Rachael Light as senior underwriter for the MGA’s first product.

She has experience underwriting this sector and previously spent seven years at SEIB Insurance Brokers, where she managed several delegated authority schemes across a range of niche sectors.

She then spent three years at Kingfisher Insurance Services before joining Acies MGU.

Light is joined at Acies by Nikki Cox, who also joins from Kingfisher, where she was a schemes development executive.

Light said: “Having spent years working with niche delegated authority business, I’m pleased to be joining the Acies team to build this new product offering for recruitment agencies.

“Recruiters often have very particular needs and there are contractual nuances that need to be carefully considered on a case-by-case basis by experts. Cox and I are both thrilled to be part of the growing Acies group and drive the development of more specialist products.”
